Local World War II hero James Sapp turned 100 years old Friday. He celebrated his birthday with 250-plus family members and friends during a celebration at his granddaughter’s home in Rincon on Saturday. He was honored with a patriotic cake and refreshments. A native of Stilson, Sapp endured 376 days of combat over a 29-month overseas stretch. He was a 82nd Airborne Division paratrooper, surviving the Battle of the Bulge.
