At the 2007 annual communication of HomeTown Health, LLC held at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Effingham Hospital was recognized for the progress it has made in health care in the Southeast by being awarded HomeTown Health’s “Hospital of the Year” for 2007.

After a complex selection process Effingham Hospital was chosen from among 55 statewide Georgia rural hospital members for this honor. This is truly a unique distinction awarded for prestigious achievement as a rural hospital.

Effingham Hospital was selected for demonstrating exceptional leadership by providing quality doctors, dedicated caregivers, and adopting “Best Practices” that contributed to the overall success of the hospital.  The criteria for this prestigious “Hospital of the Year” award consist of having an ongoing strategic plan, involvement with legislators in governmental affairs, being highly regarded by business providers and hospital peers, and expressing decision making capabilities that promotes the highest quality health care with the greatest access to the citizens of Effingham County and surrounding counties, while maintaining a financially viable health care institution.

Under the leadership of Norma Jean Morgan, CEO of Effingham Hospital, the Effingham Hospital Board of Trustees and the hospital’s dedicated team of health care professionals, the Effingham County Hospital has achieved another notable success in a very difficult and volatile health care environment and is recognized and commended for achievement far above the normal rural hospital system.
