PORT WENTWORTH — It was about helping others this holiday season in Port Wentworth.
Port Wortwenth Post 3 City Councilwoman Debbie Johnson shared the Christmas spirit with those likely to not receive very much for Christmas.
Johnson hosted a holiday party at the Holiday Inn Express on Thursday. The idea emerged from Johnson’s original idea from partnering with Feed the Hungry. She would plan a big Thanksgiving dinner and entertainment to celebrate the holiday with the local community.
The annual holiday party presents a great opportunity for the community and surrounding areas of Port Wentworth, Rincon, Garden City and Springfield to come together and celebrate the season. This year, Johnson generously received a donation of 30 bikes from Dynacraft, a newcomer to Port Wenworth that is getting ready to build a production plant nearby.
The Howard Spiva Law Office, in conjunction with its Heads in Helmets program, provided a helmet for each bike.
“The smaller children will get toys,” Johnson said before the party. “This year, I had a shortage of regular toys, but I rallied and the community always comes through.”
