Lady Rebels split pair of games
ECHS log

SPRINGFIELD — The Effingham County girls’ basketball went 1-1 last weekend in tournament play.
The Lady Rebels competed on the campus of Savannah State University where first-year head coach Patrick McClure finally got to see his team in action.
The Lady Rebels fell to Calvary Day School in their opener. McClure believes fatigue played a major role in the team’s inability to keep the pace against the Warriors.
"We played well but we are not used to playing fast," McClure said. "We got tired. The girls played hard but we only had seven.
"I realized real quick I need to put a few more girls on varsity if we are going to play fast."
McClure noted that the Lady Rebels got off to a great start before fading.
"It was obvious pretty quick that they weren’t going to be able to sustain that pace, but I did like the way they started," he said.
