Local Guardsmen honored

Georgia Air National Guardsman Technical Sgt. Timothy Norton of Rincon, a member of the 117th Air Control Squadron of the Georgia Air National Guard was recently awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for his achievements while assigned to the 727th Expeditionary Air Control Squadron at Balad Air Base in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Norton, a network infostructure manager, is a nine-year veteran of the Hunter AAF-based Georgia Air National Guard unit.

Georgia Air National Guardsman Staff Sgt. Matthew Hoover of Guyton, a six-year veteran of the 117th Air Control Squadron of the Georgia Air National Guard, was presented the Air Force Achievement Medal for his activities while assigned to the 727th Expeditionary Control Squadron at Balad Air Base in Iraq during military award ceremonies held in July.

Hoover is a radio maintenance specialist in the Hunter AAF-based unit.  

Technical Sgt. Ray Horton of Rincon, a five-year veteran of the 117th Air Control Squadron of the Georgia Air National Guard, recently received the Air Force Commendation Medal for activities while assigned as part of the 727th Expeditionary Air Control Squadron at Balad Air Base in Iraq.  

Horton is a radio maintenance technician at the Hunter AAF-based Air National Guard unit.

He is employed as a production manager for Adress Engineering in Savannah.
