A pillar of the Effingham County community will be laid to rest Monday.

Lawton M. Nease Jr., 91, died Saturday at his residence. Nease, a Guyton native, was noted for his longstanding community service, well after his days of running the family auto parts and service station ended.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Thomas C. Strickland and Sons Funeral Home, Effingham Chapel. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Guyton United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Guyton Cemetery.
