Person of interest sought in shooting incident
Pooler crime believed to be linked to earlier one in Effingham County

POOLER -- On Saturday just after 7 p.m.,  a shooting incident occurred near Sam’s Club on Pooler Parkway. There was a Pooler police officer within hearing range of the incident who was able to immediately engage the suspects. A vehicle pursuit ensued, which led to Savannah’s Windsor Forrest area. One person of interest was detained.

The victim of the shooting was transported to a nearby hospital with life threatening injuries.

On Friday, there was a shooting that took place in Effingham County. A 10-year-old girl was struck and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

 The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office investigation led it to Pooler. The Pooler Police Department and the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office then began working in cooperation.

The agencies believe the two shootings aren't random in nature.

 “These incidents were very targeted, specific and deliberate,” said Chief Ashley Brown of the Pooler Police Department..

Officers from the Savannah Police Department, Chatham County Police Department, Savannah International Airport Police, Georgia State Patrol, Garden City Police Department, Port Wentworth Police Department, Bloomingdale Police Department and the Effingham County Sheriff’s Officeresponded to assist. 

Brown said, “I think tonight’s response proves how healthy our local law enforcement community is and how willing we all are to assist each other.”

Surrounding agencies are looking for the second suspect, Cierra Mims. Mims is a 5-foot-8, 118-pound black female, 25.
