Effingham County completed a regular season-endiing sweep of Brunswick on Friday, beating the Pirates 5-4 at Rebel Field in Springfield.
The Rebels, who clinched the Region 2-AAAAAA title by winning 6-3 at Brunswick on Wednesday, will head into the playoffs with a 21-9 mark.
The Pirates claimed a 3-0 lead before the Rebels' bats started strirring. Effingham County closed the contest with single runs in the third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seven innings. Jerid Stokes tallied the decisive run on a passed ball.
Christian Campbell, Ryan Harley and Chase Howze led the Rebels' eight-hit attack with two hits each. Harley, Howze and JR Lonon had an RBI apiece.
Colton Long, Chrys Hawkins, Ethan Johnson and Ryan Harley combined to limit Brunswick to three hits. Johnson and Harley kept the Pirates off the board in their combined three frames.
