Resignation creates police department shuffle

RINCON -- In the wake of  Mark Gerbino's resignation from the Rincon Police Department on Wednesday, Lt. Jonathon Murrell was named acting chief by the Rincon City Council.

Murrell has been in law enforcement since 2009 and employed with the Rincon Police Department since 2010.
Additional department changes include Sgt. Daniel Thompson taking over as acting operations commander and Officer Brad Hayes assuming the position of K-9 sergeant with additional administrative duties.

The changes were announced at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

 Mayor Ken Lee, City Manager John Klimm and members of city council met with the officers and voiced their support.
