The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect from an attempted armed robbery at the Dollar General in Effingham County.

At 11:19 p.m. Wednesday, just after closing, two Dollar General employees, just after locking up, were forced back into their store. The suspect ordered them to open the safe and put money in the bag he provided.

Law enforcement arrived on scene within minutes and the suspect fled out the back door in the direction of Old River Road.

The suspect is believed to be a black male, 6 feet and between 235 and 255 pounds. He was wearing a ski mask and all-black clothing except brown shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office at 912-754-3449 or Crimestoppers at 912-234-2020.
