SAVANNAH -- South Effingham's girls basketball squad unwrapped a loss in its first game of the Savannah Country Day Christmas Classic on Wednesday.

The Lady Mustangs fell behind early and never closed the gap to fewer than six points of a 43-34 setback to the host team, which enjoyed a height advantage at most positions.

Jillian Pelote was the lone South Effingham player to reach double figures in scoring. She tallied 10 points.

South Effingham will play its second game of the classic against Pinewood Christian on Thursday at 1 p.m. The Lady Mustangs will face Sayre School on Friday.
