SPRINGFIELD -- Springfield City Manager Brett Bennett has announced his resignation effective June 25 to start his own consulting firm.

Bennett has served as city manager since 2007.

Mayor Bart Alderman says he and the Springfield City Council will be working on a transition plan for replacement. An interim manager will be named prior to Bennett’s departure.

During his employment with the City of Springfield, Bennett has been an integral part of the planning and development of the City’s initiatives and key contributor to the City’s previous accomplishments. He will likely provide consulting services to the city during a time of transition and for projects in the future.

Alderman said, “Mr. Bennett will be missed, but we have a great team in place at the city and employees who will make this transition successful.”
