Troy Allen, Butch Kieffer and Max Neidlinger were elected to the Springfield City Council on Tuesday.

Allen said he was relieved after watching the counting at city hall.

“I’m glad so many came out,” he said. “I’ll do the best job I can do for the citizens.”

Allen said he wants to be a voice for the people.

“I’m just happy I got elected,” he said. He said he was glad to see the vote spread out.

Kieffer said he wanted to congratulate all the candidates for a good race.

“This was a great election,” Kieffer said. “I’m proud to have Troy with me. It’s good to have that young blood on the council.”

Kieffer said he was glad to see young people running for office in the city. He also said he thought there was a clean election.

Neidlinger said he appreciates the support he has been given to continue on the council.

“It’s my fifth term, and I feel real good about it,” Neidlinger said. “It’s most likely my last term.”

Neidlinger said he had not intended to run this year but was encouraged by others to do so, and to accomplish some goals.

“I want to work on getting some things accomplished that have been initiated that I want to see completed,” he said.

Of the 1,200 registered voters in the city there were 287 ballots cast.
