The Georgia State Retirees Association (GSRA) is hosting a meeting to inform retirees about the possibility of forming a local chapter. GSRA board members will address current benefit issues for retirees covered by the ERSGA (Employees Retirement System of Georgia). Special guests, Sen. Billy Hickman and Rep. Lehman Franklin, will be in attendance to help explain the role the General Assembly plays in determining benefits and the recent allocation which will increase the pension’s funding level.

Other speakers scheduled to be in attendance include: Alan Hill (retiree from DCFS); Lorr Elias (retiree from Juvenile Justice); Laura Ryan (retiree from Juvenile Justice); and Jimmy DeLoach (retired Administrative Law Judge).

The nonprofit volunteer “watchdog” association was formed in 2006 by senior-level state staff concerned about the state retirees’ pensions and healthcare. All current state employees, retirees and spouses are invited. Information about GSRA can be seen by clicking on www.mygsra.com

The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. April 10 in the Community Room at Synovus Bank, 2 E. Main St., Statesboro.
