Tomb replica to be showcased at fair

The Exchange Club of Effingham County is sponsoring a travelling exhibit, a replica of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier monument dedicated to American service members who died without their remains being identified. 

The actual monument is located  in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va., adjacent to Fort Myer just across the Memorial Bridge from Washington, D.C. 

The replica is a project of the Americanism Committee of the Exchange Club of Rome. It be set up at the Effingham County Fair on Oct. 22-26.

Four veterans from Rome who will be with the travelling exhibit will be housed at New  Ebenezer Retreat Center.

 Additional sponsors who helped with the lodging and meal costs for this committee include Rotary Club of Effingham Sunrise, VFW Rincon Post 12149, Craig Johnson (Johnson Refrigeration), Gnann's Fix-It Shop, Veterans Park of Effingham County and Riggs Funeral Home.
