A vote for yes on alcohol referendum
Placeholder Image

Dear Editor,

I am voting yes supporting the county and cities wide special election on Feb. 5 for the following referendum with the proper language as mandated by the state of Georgia.

The ballot language is prescribed by OCGA-(a)(2) and must read as follows.

(  ) Yes Shall the governing authority of Effingham County be authorized to issue licenses to sell distilled spirits for beverage by the drink, such sales to be for consumption only on the premises? (In the cities, the name of the city will replace the county name or be added).

(  ) No.

This does not support bars or liquor stores. I would like to have a wider choice of eating places. I do not normally have a drink of distilled spirits. With the additional shopping stores that have opened up recently, they will attract more shoppers. With a wider choice of eating places, shoppers should stay longer, eating before or after shopping. This will bring more tax income for the county or cities. This is why I support the referendum with a yes, for a wider choice of eating and more tax revenue.

Please get out to vote and ask your neighbors to get out to vote yes.
