Long lived his life the way it should be lived

Dear Editor,

What is the measure of a man? Is it the amount of money he has made in the marketplace, the fame he achieved on the playing field, or the love and compassion he has shown to his fellow man?

The Creator of this world said to love one another, to meet the needs of those who are suffering. He tells us exactly how we should act toward others in Matthew 25:35-40.

Jim Long was a giant of a man, both in his body and in his heart. If he saw someone in need, he was quick to come to their aid. He enjoyed helping people. Everyone who had a need was a candidate for his generosity. He gave with no thought of a return.

The Bible says to store up treasures in Heaven and not be concerned for the transitory things of this earth, for they will all pass away. Jim Long lived that way and he has a storehouse full of good deeds waiting for him in Heaven, because he had a heart of compassion and concern for others.

Jim Long was simply a good, loving man.
