Eubanks paces Lady Rebels with four hits, stellar defensive play

Effingham County right fielder Caleigh Eubanks snags a fly ball for an out before turning and firing the ball to third baseman Francie Gaskin to complete a double play to complete the third inning Thursday. Gaskin tagged out a runner trying to tag up.

SPRINGFIELD -- Caleigh Eubanks led Effingham County's 15-hit assault with four base knocks in a 9-1 Region 2-AAAAAA win over Richmond Hill on Thursday.

Eubanks drove in three runs, scored twice and turned in a defensive gem. In the third inning, she made a running catch of a fly ball, then turned and threw to Francie Gaskin to thwart a runner trying to advance to third base.The play killed Richmond Hill's best scoring chance.

Addie Reynolds, Sydney Newberry andJamie Edinger also had multiple hits, who improved to 21-3.

The Lady Rebels will play South Effingham at 6 p.m. at Josh Reddick Stadium.
