Lady Mustangs notch another shutout

South Effingham took care of Brunswick in short order Thursday, blanking the Lady Pirates 12-0.

The Lady Mustangs (10-1)  tallied seven runs in the opening frame, giving pitcher Bailey Kendziorski more than enough runs. Kendziorski gave up only one hit en route to her fourth shutout in her last five starts. She struck out seven.

Ten Lady Mustangs collected at least one hit. Avery Roddenberry, Chloe Turner and Mattie Turner each had two base knocks.

Roddenberry and Valerie Bailey had two RBI apiece.

Effingham County and South Effingham will renew their softball rivalry with two non-region games during the 2025 regular season, after missing each other on the 2024 schedule due to GHSA realignment. Coaches agreed to resume the series, long considered one of the area’s most competitive matchups.
