SPRINGFIELD -- There was no shout of jubilation from winning pitcher Julia Carter. All she said was, "I'm tired."
And why wouldn't she be? Carter hurled three 133 pitches -- 83 for strikes -- in an 11-4 decision against Grovetown in the deciding game of a first-round, best-of-three Class AAAAAA playoff series.
Carter allowed six hits, two earned runs and fanned 10 in the 11-4 victory that sent the Lady Rebels into Thursday's second-round series at North Atlanta.
Caleigh Eubanks supported Carter with a three-run homer. Rylee Mills was also a powerhouse at the plate, socking four hits, scoring twice and drive in three runs.
Addie Reynolds and Jennie Edinger also had two hits each for Effingham County, which dropped Monday's series opener 4-0 before rebounding to take Game 2 8-1.
