HINESVILLE -- Desmond House ran for 132 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries to lead South Effingham to a 28-14 victory over Bradwell Institute on Friday night at Olvey Field.
SEHS finished with a 1-9 record to avoid the school's first winless football season. The Mustangs also won just one game in 2016 and 2017.
SEHS accomplished the victory by efficiently running its run-oriented, single-wing offense. The Mustangs had 288 rushing yards. Larry Scott added 87 yards on 18 carries, Brayden Bell had 52 yards and a touchdown on five carries and Joell Laldee added 17 yards and a score on four carries.
Liam Rickman kicked field goals on 32 and 20 yards and had an extra point kick. House threw a two-point conversion pass to Malcolm Brown.
SEHS opened the game with a 17-play, 96-yard march, culminated by House's 22-yard TD run and his two-point conversion pass.
Rickman added two field goals on the next two Mustang possessions and SEHS had a 14-0 lead at halftime.
The Mustangs dominated the statistics, outgaining Bradwell 181-8 in total yardage at intermission.
Bell had a 26-yard TD run on SEHS's first possession of the third quarter to make it 21-0 before the Tigers made their first first down of the game.
Laldee scored on a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter.
