Effingham County's softball team erupted for four eighth-inning runs at South Effingham on Tuesday to beat Glynn Academy 5-1 and advance to today’s Region 2-AAAAA championship round.
Jennie Edinger provided the decisive blow for Effingham County. Her grand slam with no outs came after Enna Lackey singled, Rylee Mills walked and Olivia Morgan reached on an error.
Edinger’s circuit clout was one four Rebels hits. Lackey got two and Lauryn Wilson added the other one.
Mills was the winning pitcher. She allowed eight hits and struck out four.
Effingham County will play Richmond Hill at 2 p.m. at The Corral.
