Rebels head coach to step down after season

SPRINGFIELD -- Effingham County head football coach Buddy Holder has announced that he will step down after the current football season.

Holder, who has led the Rebels since 2013 and owns a career mark of 43-40, intends to remain with the Effingham County School District in another capacity.

The Rebels are 3-5 this season and still in contention for a Region 2-AAAAAA playoff spot. They are set to visit Statesboro at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
