South Effingham and Effingham County split their boys and girls tennis matches Thursday, with South Effingham winning the girls contest 3-2 and Effingham taking the boys 3-2.

The Lady Mustangs won two of three singles matches. Top seed Jessie Kessler downed Chandel McDonie 6-1, 6-0, and No. 2 seed Allison Williford won by injury default over Erin Hall. Effingham’s Emily Waltz beat Courtney Edenfield 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 at No. 3 .

South Effingham’s No. 1 doubles team of Cassie Hiatt and Katherine Perrin beat Victoria Webb and Hayley Hall 6-3, 6-1. Tayla Mondella and Paige Rahn took No. 2 doubles for Effingham County with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Kylie Adams and Raven Giles.

Effingham’s boys took two of three singles matches, with Kerry Wright topping Sam Barber 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 seed and Josh Griffiths outlasting Ryan Kessler 6-0, 3-6, 6-3 at No. 3. The Mustangs’ Geoff Beecher downed Garett Craig 7-6 and 6-4 at No. 1 singles.

At No. 1 doubles, Tyler Jenkins and Shane Jenkins of South Effingham defeated Jason Mosley and Eric Oglesby 6-2, 6-4. Effingham County sealed its win with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 win by Neil Morgan and Jay Gnann over Austin Kuster and Nick Edel at No. 2 doubles.
