Lady Mustangs sweep, but Wildcat boys return the favor

The South Effingham girls tennis team swept Richmond Hill, with top singles seed Jessie Kessler beating Emily Stephens 6-2, 6-4, Allison Williford taking No. 2 singles from Fiona Baer 4-6, 6-4 and 6-1 and Courtney Edenfield downing Sofia Donleavy 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.

The Lady Mustangs top doubles team of Katherine Perrin and Cassie Hiatt beat Emily Li and Cristina Rodriguez 6-4, 6-4. Kalie Adams and Raven Giles topped Nicole Dupasquier and Lauren Tavitayakun 6-0, 6-2.

Richmond Hill’s boys won 5-0, and they did not drop a game in singles play. Michael Zhu beat Geoff Beecher at No. 1 6-0, 6-0, Chris Noonburg repeated the feat against Sam Barber at No. 2 singles and Jason Trankle completed the feat at No. 3 singles over Ryan Kessler.

Nic Balas and Ethan Lane beat Tyler Jenkins and Shane Jenkins 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles, and John Rush and Kyle Guither beat Austin Kuster and Nick Edel 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

South Effingham Dominates Calvary Day 67-11 in Girls’ Basketball

GUYTON, Ga. — South Effingham girls’ basketball overwhelmed Calvary Day 67-11 on Friday. The Cavaliers managed just three field goals all game. Junior guard Kailyn Chapman scored a game-high 24 points, including 22 in the first half, fueling an 18-0 run that gave the Mustangs a 27-2 lead. Junior forward Alayiah Lewis added 12 points.

 The win marked SEHS’s fourth consecutive victory, improving their record to 4-1.
