Josh Reddick (Oakland Athletics) — Reddick underwent successful surgery on his right wrist last Wednesday and should be ready when spring training opens in February, according to the team. The surgery was performed at Newton Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Mass., by the same doctor who operated on his left wrist in 2011.

Men’s basketball

Jay Wright (Casper College) – Wright, a freshman guard, was the leading scorer in each of the Thunderbirds’ first two games this season. He recorded 21, points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in a 95-61 win over ABCD Prep and 25 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists in a 79-61 defeat of Air Force Prep.

Men’s cross country

Jesse Campbell (Georgia Regents University) — Campbell finished 47th with a time of 27:25.46 at the Peach Belt Conference championship on Oct. 26. The Jaguars will run in the NCAA Southeast Regionals, a 10K race, at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, N.C.

Damon Webb (Gordon State College) — Webb had a time of  30:12.00 at the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association championship, held at the Cavalier Trails course in Albany. Webb finished 18th.

Ernie Zittrouer (Gordon State College) — A sophomore, Zittrouer was the Highlanders’ top finisher at the GCAA championship, finishing 12th in 29:26.00.

Football

Tovar Allen (Alabama State University) — Allen and the Hornets fell 48-14 to Kentucky. The Hornets had 297 yards of offense. Alabama State (6-3) will host Southern (La.) on Saturday.

Justin McIntyre (LaGrange College) —McIntyre had one tackle as the Panthers lost 13-10 to Christopher Newport in new coach Matt Mumme’s debut. LaGrange (3-5) will visit Ferrum (Va.) on Saturday.

Stephen Wilson (LaGrange College) — Wilson played in the Panthers’ loss to Christopher Newport, the home finale for the 2013 season.

Women’s soccer

Sydnie Van Curen (Georgia Southern University) — The junior forward had two shots in a 2-0 loss to Davidson. The Eagles finished the season 5-11-2 and 3-5-1 in the SoCon. VanCuren had two goals in 17 games.

Marissa Hamm (University of South Carolina Beaufort) — The Sand Sharks (9-8-1) open The Sun Conference quarterfinals Nov. 7.
