Mustangs come unraveled in third inning, fall 9-1

South Effingham's third-inning infield meltdown resulted in a 9-1 home loss to Statesboro on Thursday.

The Blue Devils piled up eight runs in the decisive inning despite getting just three hits. They were aided by three errors, two walks and a hit batsman.

Statesboro got only one more hit the rest of the game and the Mustangs (11-11,  4-2) finished with only three base knocks.South Effingham's hits came off the bats of Brice Ogle, Chase Warren and Logan Rahn.

Josh Berg absorbed the pitching defeat. He allowed only one hit but was tagged for six runs in two innings. Only one of the runs was earned.

Hunter Morgan and Nick Mildrandt also saw action on the mound.
