John Roberts’ hot streak continued, and so did the South Effingham Mustangs’ winning ways.

Roberts homered and the Mustangs edged Burke County 3-1 in Region 3-AAA baseball Friday night at The Corral. It was the 10th home run of the season for the senior catcher, who also has 31 runs batted in.

Senior shortstop Colby May doubled and drove in a run, and senior right-hander Jesse Osborne picked up his fourth win of the season.

The Mustangs (10-4 overall, 3-0 in the region) are ranked No. 3 in Class AAA by the Georgia Dugout Club after spending last week at No. 1. They will host Hephzibah on Friday at 6 p.m.
