Savannah Christian finished second in Region 2-AA and will open the Class AA state baseball playoffs at home Friday against Vidalia beginning at 1 p.m.

Last year, three teams from Region 2-AA reached the state quarterfinals.

The Raiders (18-9) secured the second spot in the region with a 12-11 victory over Long County last Tuesday. Jordan Hill was 2-for-3 and his double to the fence with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning drove in the winning run.

Jonathan Hester went 2-for-3 with one RBI, Nate Sisolak was 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs and Kyle Jones went 1-for-3.

Savannah Christian downed Benedictine 12-2 on Thursday as Sisolak went 4-for-5 with a double and three RBIs, Kaleb Wynn was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, Hill went 3-for-5, Hester homered and knocked in two runs while going 2-for-4 and Chad Boaen was 2-for-4 with a double. Cheshier Johnson got the win.

Johnson threw a complete-game one-hitter in a 2-1 win over Brantley County to wrap up regular season region play. Jones went 2-for-3 and David Elliott was 1-for-3 for the Raiders.

The Raiders split a regular-season ending doubleheader with Liberty County on Saturday, dropping the first game 5-2 but winning the nightcap 12-4. Jones was 2-for-4 in the first game while Hester went 2-for-4, Elliott was 2-for-3, Sisolak had a double and three RBIs — also striking out four in three innings on the mound — and Hill had a double and one RBI.

In the second game, Andrew Drought gave up two hits and struck out five in three innings. Hester was 3-for-3 with a homer, a double and two RBIs, Sisolak was 2-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs, Boaen added a double and two RBIs and Hill was 1-for-3 and drove in one run.
