South Effingham managed just 76 offensive yards and three first downs en route to a 26-3 season-opening loss to Metter on Friday night at the Corral.
Liam Rickman’s 43-yard field goal in the second quarter accounted for the lone Mustang points.
Metter quarterback Taj Hobbs ran for two touchdowns and passed for another. The Tigers, a Class A school, improved to 2-0.
SEHS had an early opportunity after a 21-yard run by Alex Cela moved the ball to the 1. But the Mustangs lost a fumble on the next play and Metter marched 95 yards on 17 plays to grab a 6-0 lead and take control of the game.
