F. Lamar Allen, the Effingham County Board of Education’s District 3 representative and chairman, was recently elected to serve as a district director for the Georgia School Boards Association.

Allen was voted to the GSBA board of directors by its District 1 members. He will represent the first district, which consists of Effingham County Schools and 13 other school districts in southeast Georgia.

“We are extremely pleased to have F. Lamar Allen join our board of directors,” said GSBA Executive Director Sis Henry. “This is an important role and one that demands a high level of leadership.”

The Georgia School Boards Association is an advocate of public education and supports citizen control of public school systems. GSBA has been serving local boards for more than 60 years.

GSBA is a voluntary, statewide organization that provides professional services and training to the state’s local boards of education, and represents the collective resolve of local boards in the governance of public education.
