Ebenezer Middle School hosted the Coastal Empire Middle School Region Cheerleading Championship on Nov. 5 and took first place, winning the regional title. The South Effingham Middle School cheer team placed second.
 
The team members from Ebenezer include: Hunter Jordan, Brooklyn Williams, Chelsea Eddy, Kaley Pigman, Summer Shropshire, Devon Muller, Taylor Johnson, Adasha Plunkett, Shelby Clements, Diamon McKinney, Vanessa Collini, Taylor Cocke, Kailey Ward, Abbey Sikes, Caroline Johnson, Haylie Rush, and Abbie Dickerson. The team is coached by Shawn Baker and LaToya Jefferson.
 
The stunt group from Southeast Bulloch Middle School won the Lib Off. Members of this group included: Alexsis Rutledge, Skyler Morgan, Mollie Cromley, Ashley Ononsu, and Taylor Williams.
 
Skyler Morgan from Southeast Bulloch Middle School won the Jump Off. Adasha Plunkett from Ebenezer Middle School won the Tumble Off.
Effingham School Board Approves $203M budget with Potential Property Tax Increase

The Effingham County Board of Education approved a $203 million fiscal year 2026 budget Thursday night, reflecting an 11% increase over last year. The rise is largely due to an $8 million spike in health and retirement benefit costs for employees. To help cover the shortfall, the district may raise the property tax millage rate, potentially increasing homeowners’ taxes by up to 12 percent.
