Aug. 2-6           Pre-planning for staff

Aug. 5              Open House, 4-7 pm (All Schools)

Aug. 9              First Day of School

Sept. 6             Labor Day – No School

Oct. 13, 14       Parent/Teacher Conferences – Early Release

Oct. 15-18        Fall Break – No School (Oct. 15 is Planning Day for Staff)

Nov. 11             Veteran’s Day – No School

Nov. 24-26        Thanksgiving Holidays – No School

The Effingham County Board of Education approved the 2010-2011 academic calendar at its last meeting.

“It is advantageous for us academically,” Superintendent Randy Shearouse said of the calendar.

The board received input from school personnel, and an online poll on its Web site.

The first day of school will be Aug. 9 and the last day of school will be May 25 with graduations being held on May 27 and 28.
