The public is invited to attend an informational meeting on May 7 to discuss and have the opportunity to provide input and jointly develop the programs under the No Child Left Behind Act. These programs include Title I, Title II Part A, Title II Part D, Title V and the Even Start Family Literacy Program.

The meeting will be offered during the morning and again in the afternoon. The meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the auditorium of the Board of Education Office at 405 North Ash St. in Springfield.

Parents will be given an opportunity to have input and jointly develop a plan that will best serve the students in the school system. There also will be a time to evaluate the effectiveness of the existing program to determine if all academic needs are being met.

An overview of the curriculum and the various programs will be explained. The No Child Left Behind Act will be covered, including aspects of the law regarding school choice and supplemental services. There will be a time for discussion along with a question and answer period where parents can voice their concerns.

The sign-in will begin at 10:15 a.m. and light refreshments will be served prior to the meeting.  For more information, contact Dr. Norma Wallace at 754-5628.
