Brown makes deans list at ABAC

TIFTON — Billy W. Brown II of Guyton has been named to the dean’s list at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College for the fall term.

A total of 243 students were named to the fall term dean’s list at ABAC, according to Vice President and Dean of Academic Affairs Niles Reddick.

Students on the dean’s list attained a minimum grade point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale and carried at least 12 hours of academic work.

The Effingham County Board of Education approved a $203 million fiscal year 2026 budget Thursday night, reflecting an 11% increase over last year. The rise is largely due to an $8 million spike in health and retirement benefit costs for employees. To help cover the shortfall, the district may raise the property tax millage rate, potentially increasing homeowners’ taxes by up to 12 percent.
