Covenant Christian Academy fifth grade and seventh grade students are in the top 1 percent in the nation, according to the scores from the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS).

The average standard score for those classes placed them in the 99th percentile compared to other schools across the country. The stanine score for CCA seventh graders was a 9, which is rated “very superior.”

Other CCA grade levels also scored extremely well. First graders scored in the 98 percentile and third graders scored in the 90 percentile.
The school standings are based on their Spring 2009 ITBS testing. The administration and staff attribute the scores to several factors:  small class sizes, experienced, loving teachers, willing and well-disciplined students, excellent classical curriculum, and supportive parents. Most importantly, the school gives credit to God, who is at the center of all learning in the school.

“We invite like-minded, Christian families to join us next year and become a part of the tradition of excellence here at CCA”, said Headmaster Martin Wilkins.

Covenant Christian Academy is a classical, Christian school located at 1541 Highway 21 S. near Springfield. They are currently enrolling pre-kindergarten through eighth grader for 2009-10. Seating is limited to eight to 10 students per class.

CCA will host a spring carnival and open house at the school on Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Games and inflatables will be available for kids while parents will have an opportunity to learn more about the school, its curriculum and reduced tuition.
