Students at Covenant Christian Academy have their art displayed in the world’s largest art museum in the world.

Since December 2007, CCA students have contributed 132 pieces of art on Artsonia.com. Every child has their own online art gallery, preserving their masterpieces to be shared around the world.

What can parents and kids do on Artsonia? In addition to the art museum, Artsonia invites parents and family members to view their child’s grand opening and join their child’s official Artsonia Fan Club. Friends and family can leave positive comments about their child’s artwork in their guestbook. Maybe best of all, Artsonia also offers a gift-shop, which allows family members to purchase customized art keepsakes from Artsonia featuring their child’s artwork Some items offered are coffee mugs, key chains, tote bags, T-shirts and more.

Artsonia supports CCA’s art program by donating 15 percent of every purchase back to the school. CCA students participate in art class weekly and have created art items such as mosaic fish, Native American masks, Greek comedy masks, Georgia blue crabs, Greek columns and pots, characters of the Odyssey coffee collages, Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers,” tessellations, carpet cross from sacred book, Grandma Moses’ paintings, Egyptian cats and sarcophagi, and Joseph’s coat artworks. These works can be viewed on CCA’s Web site, www.ccaeffingham.com. Click on the link “Our Student’s Art.”

Art at CCA is related to various topics being studied in History. For example, second grade history covers the time period of Ancient Egypt, so students create Egyptian cats and mummy tombs to tie their learning together.

The 2007-2008 school year was a great year for art at Covenant Christian under the superb direction of art teacher, Phyllis Thomerson. The school can’t thank her enough for her diligence and expertise with this program.
