SPRINGFIELD—Inspired by U.S. Rep. John Barrow’s “Holiday Cards for Our Troops,” the Effingham County High School FFA chapter decided to get involved.

Over 100 FFA members wrote seasons greetings and words of support in holiday cards to send to our armed services men and women recovering from battle at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Members also made reindeer ornaments to send to help bring a little decorative cheer as well.

Several ECHS FFA members have gone on to join the armed forces. Most recently graduated are William Pittman and Caleb Grovenstein, both in the Marines, and Brittany Smith, who is in the Army.

This is the fourth year holiday cards have been collected. To join in, send a hand-made or store bought card, write your message and send it in an unsealed, unaddressed envelope to Congressman John Barrow, 450 Mall Blvd, Suite A, Savannah, GA 31406 or drop it off an any of his district offices in Savannah, Augusta, Milledgeville, Sandersville, or Vidalia by Dec 17.
