Effingham County High School students Casie Wilson and Harrison Cowart have been selected as Georgia Scholars for 2014.

Cowart and Wilson are two of only 116 graduating seniors statewide to earn the accolade from the Georgia Department of Education.

The Georgia Scholar program honors high school seniors who have excelled in academics and leadership. Georgia Scholars receive a seal for their diploma.

To be eligible for Georgia Scholar recognition, high school seniors must exhibit excellence in all phases of school life, in community activities and in the home.

Georgia Scholars are students who have carried exemplary course loads during the four years of high school, performed excellently in all courses, successfully participated in interscholastic events at their schools and in their communities, and have assumed active roles in extracurricular activities sponsored by their schools.
