Effingham students earn UGA diplomas

Five Effingham County residents finished their degree requirements during the fall 2012 semester at the University of Georgia.

Andrew Lewis Anderson of Rincon earned a master of science. Samantha G. Ogletree of Guyton earned a bachelor of arts in journalism, Colby May of Guyton earned a bachelor of arts, Morgan Danielle Robinson of Guyton earned a bachelor of science in education and Charles Allen Sherrod II earned a bachelor of science in forest resources.

The Effingham County Board of Education approved a $203 million fiscal year 2026 budget Thursday night, reflecting an 11% increase over last year. The rise is largely due to an $8 million spike in health and retirement benefit costs for employees. To help cover the shortfall, the district may raise the property tax millage rate, potentially increasing homeowners’ taxes by up to 12 percent.
