Local students earn Valdosta State honors

VALDOSTA — Eight students from Effingham County were named to Valdosta State University’s fall 2014 dean’s list.

Students who achieve a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher on nine or more semester hours with an institutional GPA of 3.00 or higher are recognized on the dean’s list.

Local students earning the honor were:

Mikaela Burnham of Rincon

Justin Floyd of Guyton

Ansley Triplett of Rincon

Capwell, McCrae receive Valdosta State diplomas

VALDOSTA — Two students from Effingham County graduated from Valdosta State University at the conclusion of the fall 2014 semester.

Kasey Capwell of Guyton and Britney McCrae of Rincon met all qualifications for graduation and earned their degrees from VSU.

They were among more than 750 students to receive their undergraduate or graduate degree.



Three students receive Georgia Tech degrees

ATLANTA — Three local students received their degrees during the Georgia Institute of Technology’s 248th commencement exercises.

Earning their degrees were:

Michelle Drewry of Guyton – Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering

Jeffrey Hamilton of Rincon – Bachelor of Science in Chemistry

Garret McCurry of Bloomingdale – Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering

Georgia Tech presented degrees to approximately 1,800 undergraduate and graduate students during the ceremony.
