Students at Ebenezer Middle School presented The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Georgia and Alabama a $3,332 check on Oct. 31, after holding a three-week fundraiser for children with life-threatening medical conditions. The check presentation took place at 10 a.m. in the school’s atrium.

The $3,332 check is the most significant contribution from a Savannah area school and represents the efforts of 970 students who participated in Make-A-Wish Foundation’s Kids For Wish Kids program. Kids for Wish Kids is a program designed to give students of all ages the opportunity to sponsor the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

By bringing their pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters to school for a three-week period, the students were able to raise money to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening conditions.

“It’s a fantastic program and one we will definitely participate in again each year,” said Ramona Lovett, Ebenezer Middle School principal. “Considering what the students were able to accomplish in such a short time, I can’t imagine what they could accomplish over a longer period of time.”

“The Make-A-Wish Foundation is elated that the students of Ebenezer Middle School worked so hard to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions,” said Kathy Hammond, president and CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Georgia and Alabama.

“We thank every one of these students, their parents, and the school staff for their dedication and commitment to our mission. We look forward to partnering again with Ebenezer and other schools in the Effingham County School District.”
