Friedman named to Emorys deans list

Ross Friedman of Yulee, Fla., son of Mrs. Stephanie L Yeates of Rincon and Dr. Robert H Friedman of Yulee, was named to the dean’s list of Emory College, the undergraduate, liberal arts college of Emory University in Atlanta for the 2008 spring semester.

Students must be in the top 20 percent of Emory College or have approximately a 3.859 grade point average or higher to be named to the dean’s list.

The Effingham County Board of Education approved a $203 million fiscal year 2026 budget Thursday night, reflecting an 11% increase over last year. The rise is largely due to an $8 million spike in health and retirement benefit costs for employees. To help cover the shortfall, the district may raise the property tax millage rate, potentially increasing homeowners’ taxes by up to 12 percent.
