Georgia Heritage FCU announced two college scholarship award winners for 2016. Both scholarship recipients are graduating from South Effingham High School in May.

A $2,000 college scholarship award will go to Bethany Dyals, daughter of Christopher and Janna Dyals of Guyton. Dyals plans to pursue a bachelor of science in nursing at Georgia College and State University, and would like to work in a pediatrician’s office or children’s hospital.

A $1,500 scholarship award goes to Raquel Hazzard, daughter of Gina Hazzard of Rincon. While attending the University of Georgia as part of the Honors Program, Hazzard plans to major in chemistry with a minor in creative writing. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Hazzard plans to apply to the Emory School of Medicine to pursue a doctorate in medicine.

Each year, Georgia Heritage FCU offers two college scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are members of the Credit Union. Georgia Heritage is open to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Chatham, Effingham or Bryan counties. For more information, go to “Education Center” at www.gaheritagefcu.org.
