GSU to offer engineering exam review

The engineering science community is invited to attend the “Fundamentals of Engineering Exam Review: A Refresher Course” on Saturdays, Aug. 22-Oct. 3 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Georgia Southern University’s College of Science and Technology Building.

The course will revisit key topics of engineering science ranging from mathematics, engineering mechanics, engineering economy, electrical circuits, thermodynamics and computers.

After taking the course, participants will be able to work out problems typically encountered in the Fundamentals of Engineering examination.

The course fee is $299 for Georgia Southern students and $599 for non-students. The registration deadline is Aug. 5.

Effingham School Board Approves $203M budget with Potential Property Tax Increase

The Effingham County Board of Education approved a $203 million fiscal year 2026 budget Thursday night, reflecting an 11% increase over last year. The rise is largely due to an $8 million spike in health and retirement benefit costs for employees. To help cover the shortfall, the district may raise the property tax millage rate, potentially increasing homeowners’ taxes by up to 12 percent.
