Guyton Elementary School has recently received the Dance Revolution program in which many teachers and students are enjoying. This is a pilot program from the state demonstrating an integrated collaboration between the health promotion and school health programs and 23 partnering schools from eight different public school systems.
Schools in the Coastal Health District will be challenged to satisfy approximately 48 activities related to the Live Healthy Georgia campaign and Healthy People 2010 objectives directed at schools. Areas of focus include physical activity, healthy nutrition, tobacco use prevention, cardiovascular disease, asthma, diabetes, oral health and immunizations. All tools and resources are provided without charge.
The program has been recognized by the Live Healthy Georgia campaign and the governor will recognize qualifying schools with a signed Live Healthy Georgia School certificate.
The Dance, Dance Revolution complete system for 30 participants at a time is awarded to the first 23 schools that meet the established criteria. ($4,500 – $6,500 value)
