Approximately 1,400 students from 32 area schools will perform at the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport this holiday season as a part of the airport’s eighth annual “School Music Days.”

“We’re thrilled with the immense response we’ve gotten from the area schools this year and look forward to having the students perform for our passengers again this holiday season,” said Lori Lynah, Director of Marketing/Public Relations for the Savannah Airport Commission.

She added, “This year we have our first group of students who are in home school and several hand bell choirs, so it’s a very popular event throughout the community.”

The school choirs and orchestras will perform in the Savannah Square area, located on the second floor of the airport terminal.

The Savannah Airport Commission will validate parking for any parents who wish to attend their child’s performance. Savannah Piano has graciously donated the use of a piano for the performances.

The Effingham County Board of Education approved a $203 million fiscal year 2026 budget Thursday night, reflecting an 11% increase over last year. The rise is largely due to an $8 million spike in health and retirement benefit costs for employees. To help cover the shortfall, the district may raise the property tax millage rate, potentially increasing homeowners’ taxes by up to 12 percent.
