Elizabeth Gail Pabst was crowned Miss Berry College 2010.

Pabst is a 2007 honor graduate of Effingham County High School. She is a junior at Berry College in Rome, where she is majoring in government with a minor in public relations. She is also a member of Berry's nationally-ranked equestrian team.

She is the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. George C. Pabst of Guyton and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Verne C. Pabst of Rincon.

The Effingham County Board of Education approved a $203 million fiscal year 2026 budget Thursday night, reflecting an 11% increase over last year. The rise is largely due to an $8 million spike in health and retirement benefit costs for employees. To help cover the shortfall, the district may raise the property tax millage rate, potentially increasing homeowners’ taxes by up to 12 percent.
