Pfleger, Walters named Junior Angus Association members

Danielle Pfleger of Guyton and Meaghan T. Walters of Rincon are new junior members of the American Angus Association, reports John Crouch, executive vice president of the national organization with headquarters in Saint Joseph, Mo.

Junior members of the Association are eligible to register cattle in the American Angus Association, participate in programs conducted by the National Junior Angus Association and take part in Association sponsored shows and other national and regional events.

The American Angus Association is the largest beef registry association in the world with more than 36,000 active adult and junior members.

The Effingham County Board of Education approved a $203 million fiscal year 2026 budget Thursday night, reflecting an 11% increase over last year. The rise is largely due to an $8 million spike in health and retirement benefit costs for employees. To help cover the shortfall, the district may raise the property tax millage rate, potentially increasing homeowners’ taxes by up to 12 percent.
