Savannah Tech to hold family college day

SAVANNAH — Savannah Technical College welcomes you to try college for free.

On Aug. 16 from 10 a.m.-noon, participants will have the opportunity to take two, 45-minute classes in a variety of areas.  The event is free and open to the public.

Pre-registration is required and can be done through the Web site, www.savannahtech.edu or by calling (912) 443-4798. 

Anyone age 13 and up are welcome to take classes, those under the age of 13 will also have a number of events to participate in.

Sponsored by Amerigroup, children’s activities will include games, a moon bounce, face painting or watching a movie while family members are in classes.

Nine courses within the listed areas are available for registration: accounting, aviation, cosmetology, culinary arts, drafting, historic preservation, HVAC, industrial systems, medical assisting and paramedic technology.

Attendants will want to be on campus early to pick up their class schedules and, if children under 13 are accompanying them, be sure to secure their child in the area of choice before going to class.  

A 15-minute break between sessions will allow parents to check on their children before the next class.
